House Of Jeffers: 2012 Year In Style

For me, 2012 was the start of many new things in my life, both personally and for House Of Jeffers. I did things I never expected, grabbed opportunities I had dreamed of having... and, evidently, wore a lot of neon and stripes. Hence, I've included some of my favorite outfits from 2012!

To think that I continued on the path of chronicling my life in photos, and outfits, for another year on my blog, is sorta crazy. When I'm no longer hip and cool, I can return to this place and see my style evolution... and know that I did it in my own special way, on my own terms. I always felt that I had my own way of doing things, and my blog has allowed me to go bold with my sense of style, and with things I'm passionate about.

\

But I couldn't do what I do without those who read and support my blog. To the amazing friends I've made, to all my lovely followers and snazzy brands who continue to show their support to me, I tip my bangs to you. For every comment, every Twitter follower, Instagram "like", and every single brand who has given me the opportunity to represent them in some way... You've made this girl from New Jersey feel loved.

You motivate me to be my best self on House Of Jeffers... Even if you think I'm a little nuts wearing galaxy print leggings

I hope you'll continue to follow me into 2013! Happy New Year!

Friday Fashion Fix: Sequin Pants

I hope ya'll had a present-filled, and dope, Christmas! I have to say I made out pretty well in the gift department this year... and I'll have some goodies to show off in the New Year.

But first, let's get to the point: My pants are sequined, and yes, they are the s$%^. Totally RSVP'ed to the pants party...

L.O.V.E. these gold sequin pants from Black Sheep Clothing. I knew I wanted to wear them for Christmas and figured I needed an equally loud top to make my relatives do double-takes.

Outfit Details
Neon Pink Sweater - Forever 21 / Gold Sequined Pants - c/o Black Sheep Clothing / Gold and Green Rhinestone Statement Necklace - Forever 21/  Peek-A-Boo Sparkle Cuff - c/o Sorrelli / Black Quilted Clutch - Urban Expressions / Adrienne Pumps - ShoeMint.com /

Plus, I am no longer a pointy-shoe virgin! Finally bought myself a pair of pointy shoes, after talking to the beautiful people who chat with me during #stylechat a la StyleCaster on Twitter.  This satin Adrienne pumps from ShoeMint are my first purchase. Delicious, aren't they?

Finally, the perfect bracelet from Sorrelli's MiMi collection makes this outfit complete. You know I love me a studded-anything... Right up my alley!

As this is my last new outfit post of the year, I figured I need to go out with a bang! Check back on Monday for my House Of Jeffers year-end recap!

Hipster Holiday Gift Guide For Dudes

Holiday shopping for men is difficult enough. But shopping for male hipsters can be a little tricky. I know this firsthand not because my husband is a hipster, but because my bangs are.

Even though hipsters usually love music and artsy-fartsy culture, it can be hard to pin point a gift for them. Get them the wrong Andy Warhol reproduction print, and they'll be drinking Pabst alone in their room while listening to Bright Eyes for the next couple of weeks.

However, shopping for men for the holidays is a great way to buy them gifts they normally wouldn't consider themselves. This applies for clothes especially. It's like saying "Wear this" without really saying it. He hates v-necks, but you like em. Get him one that he can layer with a t-shirt. Everybody wins... sorta.

Check out my music and drinking-themed gifts sure the dude in your life who's too cool for school.

Local Natives

Two interesting facts about myself that relate to this outfit.

1. My family's ancestry includes Native American roots, as my grandfather's mother was Native American. I've always loved this about my family being that I have yet to run into anyone else who is Native American. Hence, the tribal, Navajo print on my oversized sweater lets me celebrate my inter Pocahontas.

And 2. I purchased this sweater in a hidden gem called Gypsy Warrior in Ridgewood, New Jersey. The gypsy theme ties into my family again, as supposedly, we had gypsies in my family, too.

I've read about the store, and stalked their online shop for months. Finally, I took a ride up to their store and felt like my punk rock inner was right at home. You must check them out online at GypsyWarrior.com, where I purchased this sweater. If you like studs, leather and have a tendency to wear black, than I encourage you to check them out!

Holiday Party Outfit Prerequisites

Taking pictures indoors is definitely NOT my preference. But, it was between taking photos on a rainy New Jersey day, or a simple wall in my house. Not the most creative, but what the photos might lack, hopefully, the outfit makes up for.

Outfit Details:
Pink Pleated Blouse - Forever 21 / Cobalt Blue Jeans - Marshalls / Luscious 23 Glitter Bow Pumps - Lulus.com / Chrystie Cross Bib Necklace - BaubleBar.com / Lanyard and Rhinestone Rope Bracelet - Henri Bendel

I'm absolutely on this mixing loud colors kick for winter, and which led me to wear this outfit to a casual holiday party. It's not your standard "Christmas party" festive, but I thought it was dressy yet casual enough to be appropriate. Plus, I darkened my hair, so my clothes have been looking slightly different on me.

Just because it's the holidays, that doesn't mean all you have to wear is gold, black and red. Let's reserve those colors for Christmas decorations, shall we?

My holiday outfits, I say play up colors other than the one's you find on Santa's sleigh:

For holiday parties, go with loud and non-traditional winter color choices since it lets your outfit stand out against the typical party-goers rocking traditional December hues.

Plus, you can add wear your most flamboyant accessories with em. Glitter pumps and bib necklaces = a holiday party outfit prerequisite!

jen from house of jeffers hosts a night of VIP shopping at Henri Bendel

When the Henri Bendel team asked me to host a night of VIP Shopping at their Short Hills, NJ location on Wednesday, I was completely floored! For me, Henri Bendel has been a beacon of luxe, chic and absolutely indulgent when it comes to jewelry and things in the name of celebrating being a girl. To be asked to host an event at their store was absolutely an honor and a shopping dream!

Among the champagne and chocolate, I had the chance to meet fellow Henri Bendel fans and help them find the perfect gift for a friend... and better yet, themselves! I loved seeing what items people picked out, and talking to them about what they love about the store. And since I'm a true Bendel Girl at heart, you KNOW I got my shop on, too!
