Jump. Romp. Wear.

Jumpers and Rompers: The Perfect All-In-One #OOTD.

There's a reason why jumpsuits and rompers have fun names... Because they're fun to wear!

The epitome of effortless style, rompers, playsuits, jumpsuits, whatever you want to call them, cover all the bases when it comes to day and evening looks. Jumpsuits tend to be more sophisticated, and can even be worn to the office, while rompers have that young, playful spirit to them which I personally love. Plus, you can still wear the style you love, yet, play up their best attributes.

Rompers are well-suited for those who like to wear shorts and skorts.
Jumpsuits have that Studio 54 disco vibe to them, but can be worn to formal occasions with the right accessories.

Of course, I had to look across the pond to many of my favorite UK brands like Boohoo (where the skort romper is from), Miss Selfridge (the fuchsia jumpsuit), New Look and Topshop (the red crochet playsuit) to find these pickins... because they LOVE a playsuit in England. And I do, too!

Lilac Road

Kate Spade New York Lilac Road bag | House Of Jeffers | www.houseofjeffers.com

I wasn't kidding when I said that I love Kate Spade. Case in point, meet my fourth
Kate Spade New York bag: the Lilac Road Palm Springs.

She is beautiful. She is purple. And those scallops are so stinking cute, you just want to pinch her cheeks and squeal. Or something like that...

Ironically, I had this outfit on when I bought the bag over Memorial Day Weekend during a huge sale. I'm still in shock at how much I saved buying it. I've been wanting a smaller bag that I can just throw my stuff in and go, and this one is the perfect size. Plus, it's got that British satchel vibe to it that is sorta Twiggy-esque.

What to wear with crop tops | House Of Jeffers | www.houseofjeffers.com

Oh, and it's been confirmed: I will be living in crop tops this summer. Get used to it.

This daisy lace top was definitely an outside-the-box choice for me since I don't anything off white, yet, it reminded me of a pretty doily. But it's a nice chance of pace from my standard black top uniform I seem to favor so much. See, I do try new things!

And in case you were wondering, there's no skating at the park today. Tomorrow? Maybe.
File this under random things I find while taking outfit photos in parks.

Midi to the Max

House Of Jeffers: UK Style fashion blog from a NJ point of view | www.houseofjeffers.com

Ladies, break out those gams. Get that mani/pedi game in check... because it's officially skirt season!!!

And it only took 6 months of miserable weather to get here.

Being the self-proclaimed skirt connoisseur that I am, this year, I've been eying up midi skirts. Now, I'm a short girl  (5'4") and initially I thought entering this territory would look a little ridiculous on me, and make me appear shorter than I truly am.

But the simple trick of elongating my lets by wearing heels versus flats with a midi skirt really does work. Plus, I love the leather piattes on this skirt from one of my favorite UK-based fashion brands, Darling Clothes. I truly feel like a British lady who lunches in this outfit. Perhaps a little shopping on Regent Street after?

Sounds like a plan!

Weekend Wears: Layered in Peplum

How to style peplum for all body types | House Of Jeffers blog | www.houseofjeffers.com

Any chance to stand in a field and reenact the scene from "The Sound of Music" calls for embarrassing yourself in a park.  That, and when you've finally nailed layering, as I think I've done with this outfit, it's completely acceptable to get crazy giddy in public.

How to layer peplum tops with tshirts | House Of Jeffers | www.houseofjeffers.com

During last Wednesday's #Stylechat on Twitter, I asked the group what they thought about peplum. Some still love it, others feel it's had its moment... and I'm somewhere in the middle. One person mentioned they still like it, but probably wear the pieces they own, but not buy new peplum. I agree with that statement.

Yet, I wanted to wear this sleeveless peplum top from H&M on Sunday, and thought perhaps if I wore a striped, short sleeve tee under it for extra coverage (it was chilly), and contrast, it just might work...

I have to admit - I really, really love how this looks. I've never been good at layering, but this combo was ridiculously easy. I can see this working with a solid t-shirt under it, too.

Vintage Reminders

Vintage inspired #ootd day featuring Forever 21 & Seychelles Shoes | www.houseofjeffers.com

The words "Jen" and "vintage" being in the same sentence are a complete oxymoron. I don't think anyone would classify my style as vintage. Heck, the most vintage things I own are jewelry. But for me, what makes me feel like I'm wearing something vintage is this ditsy floral print skirt... and the shoes, which have a 1950s vibe to em.

They remind me of Mary Janes, but more contemporary. And they are uber light.

Although nothing in this outfit is thrifted, I really feel like its something you might find at a thrift store. The ditsy floral print skirt. The open knit tennis sweater. Is vintage trying to tell me something?

I think my bangs are a bit too hipster to go full-blown vintage. Maybe more of a 70s vintage, do the hustle kind of lady. Yeah, that sounds out of sight.

Top 3 Spring Style Trends to Try

You guys, it's finally Spring in New Jersey! I don't have to wear tights anymore with my dresses! To feel the sun on my skin again in such a long time feels like an awakening. And I've got the red arms to prove it after Sunday's 80 degree weather day! I couldn't be happier!

Now that I can finally dig out those dresses I bought months ago... I'm creating my Spring into Summer signature style with a couple of items that I'd love for you to try out, too!

1. The Pink Handbag
I own a lot of pink handbags... for some reason. This Kate Spade New York Bag was the first pink bag I ever purchased. - a congratulatory present for getting a new job 2 years ago. Typically, I favor a black leather handbag, but, for summer, having a bright bag is the way to go. It really stands out, and from April till about September, you can get away with wearing it. An investment for sure, but it's well worth it.

2. Say No (or at least, "Not now") to Wedges
I'm getting use to the idea of wearing more grown up shoes OTHER than wedges. I walk the best in wedges, but I see how a woman my age - I'm in my 30s - should be wearing more sophisticated footwear. So, hopefully, I'll be wearing more adult-ish footwear, and trying out traditional heels for feminine flair. These platform Madewell heels are my first start.

3. The Art of Wearing Busy Prints
This summer, I'm keeping an eye out on prints that complement my accessories in a way that lets each one stand out - and not against each other, especially florals and tribal-inspired patterns.

This floral print dress from Forever 21 has enough going on that I don't need to do much to dress it up. It goes well with my pink handbag, and when I wear it with flats, it'll still look like I put in time and effort to put together a complete outfit together.

Perfect Pairs: Black and White

Black and White Style | House Of Jeffers | www.houseofjeffers.com

You know those go-to color combinations you love wearing? As of late, black and white monochrome style is starting to grow on me. In the past, I thought black and white was too predictable. But, really, the color combo is so timeless and has the capability of being casual, glamorous, dressy, hipster, preppy... It doesn't matter what your style is - you can wear it.

Tribal Print Pants Trend | House Of Jeffers | www.houseofjeffers.com

Since I've been on this printed legging/pants kick, I was searching for a pair of tribal print joggers. CAUTION: Do not be fooled by joggers - all are not created equal. For someone like me with stick figure legs, I have a complex about any pants other than skinny. Even those palazzo pants - I don't get why anyone would want to look like they're floating.

But I digress...

But, I found these semi-slim fitting pants at where else, Forever 21, and paired them with a simple black crop top. I'm also loving all the metal/mirror details on shoes this year. I had completely forgotten about these silver mirror finish sandals I bought at DSW, so after dusting them off, they found their place on my feet for the first time this year.

What's your thoughts on black and white combos? Love? Hate? Over it?
