IFB Evolving Influence influenced me!

Remember the IFB Evolving Influence Conference? Well, all the footage gathered by the roaming bloggers is now available at IFB for your viewing pleasure. Check out this one filmed by Nubia of Nubia's Nonsense and features my fellow NYC Fashion Blogger bud Tomeka Steele of FashionSteeleNYC... and me! I was really surprised (and honored) to be a part of the video... and the conference.

It was only two months ago that I attended. If it wasn't for IFB, I probably wouldn't be improving my blog, making new friend sand perhaps even continuing with the site. I definitely left the conference motivated, and I think the changes I've made to House of Jeffers have been big ones so far... with more to come! A kick swift in the ass was definitely needed, and I really can't boast about this enough. If you have the chance to attend next year, absolutely go. Even if you think you know all you need to about blogs, you will absolutely be blown away by the abundance of knowledge and info you'll get out of the event.

Mango & Marie Claire Night of Style Event

On Friday, I attended the Night of Style event sponsored by Marie Claire at Mango on Broadway in Soho with my friend, Molly.

On display was their Spring/Summer 2011 collection - and I have to admit, the color palette is perfect for the upcoming seasons. Along with a mix of skinny jeans and wardrobe staples like cardigans, tees and tanks, they offer chic dresses in vibrant prints - stripes and florals, my two favorites. Plus, a light shade of peach will definitely be in - and I'm on board. The night offered a contest for $500 to the person who pulled together the best Mango look from the store. Plus, Sephora was on-hand for free makeup consultations and girly goodness.

In between sipping champagne and snacking on some hors d'oeuvre, the ladies of the NYC Fashion Bloggers Meetup group chatted about what it takes to actually run a blog. I'll say that it's nice to know that there are others who understand the kind of work and dedication involved in launching and maintaining a blog. So glad I found this group.

As for my outfit, I was a little hesitant to wear these harem pants. I originally purchased these for my new job, but figured I might as well get it out of the way and wear em - even though I had some reservations. At $13 from Forever 21 they were a steal, but there's just something about having your crotch look like it's down to your knees, and a high-waist pant making me look bloated that leaves me indecisive about the pants. Tucking in the shirt was the right move though. Overall, I felt comfortable in the raining weather.

Outfit:
Leather jacket - Zara
Striped shirt - Forever 21
Harem pants - Forever 21
Shoes - Modcloth.com
Bag - Primark UK
Necklace - Mandees

And I couldn't leave without making a purchase. I'm loving this chunky ring! Since everything at the store was 30% off, I paid $13 bucks for it. It reminds me of an old-school scuba diving helmet. It will definitely get some heavy rotation in my wardrobe!

Luck be a lady

I can't believe I won a ticket! I am beyond thrilled and excited to be attending the IFB Evolving Influence Conference... to meeting so many other bloggers, to learning how to take my obsession with fashion to the next level, and to hear panels from some of the most esteemed bloggers in the fashion realm such as Keiko Lynn and Gala Darling!

But now comes the hard part - what am I going to wear!?!??

The weather in NYC currently is windy, and just last night, I saw snow flurries. I feel like I can't dress the way I'd like to when I go into New York - due to the fact that if you wear shoes that look good, your feet probably won't feel good after all the walking. I'm avoiding this Thursday and getting a cab.

But for the outfit... I'm at a crossroads between a beige and black striped tunic dress recently aquired from H&M, with black leggings, patent leather boots and a blazer.... Or go the black ruffled skirt route with black and red heart tights and some type of striped top.... Or a dress I got from Miss Selfridge in the UK during December. Who am I kidding? Stripes and probably black will be involved in some capacity.

If anyone is going, please let me know! I'd love to meet you, shake hands and say hello!

Dress - Forever 21
Woven leggings - Mandee
Shoes - Nine West

Be prepared!

At a certain point during the colder months, I get tired of buying winter clothes. I have a tendency to dislike much of what I've purchased from the year before, which results in purging a lot of my older clothes and replacing them with new lovies to don this year. But it's February, and I'm over the snow, sleet and miserable weather that's been hitting NJ.

Many of my most recent purchases have been shoes - platforms, flats and mary janes, oh my! My main stem wear inspiration comes from Chloe Sevigny for Opening Ceremony.

I've always been a fan of her style, and in her collection, I think the Platform Mary Jane really make sense because they go with pretty much everything... and they are just all around uber amazing. Need, and want, these shoes!

The outfit possibilities are limitless with these platforms!

Currently, two pairs of shoes, both from Forever21 are sitting in my closet, and are on deck for Spring! The leather mary janes have an ultra lightweight heel, and the floral slingbacks add a splash of color and go well with black and denim.

Plus, I'll be reviving my patent leather peep toe platform wedges from last season...

With my new shoes waiting to be worn, I'll just have to come up with some winter ways to sport these beauties... Spring - get here soon!

IFB Pick Me!

I had been planning on attending the Independent Fashion Blogger's Evolving Influence Conference.... until the tickets sold out. Immediately, a wave of disappointment washed over me as the thought of missing Proenza Schouler's key note speech and not being in the mix at a gaggle of panels with fellow bloggers and fashion lovers.

Now, IFB is giving reader's the chance to make a video and possibly, win a ticket! Here's my video - hope you (yes, you, IFB) like it!
