Top 10 Nail Polish Colors For Fall

Top 10 Nail Polish Colors for Fall 2013

Nail polish trends this summer were bold and bright... and rightfully so! Neons dominated our digits, and nail art got a lot more playful - from fruit, tribal, funky polka dots and nail wraps that let you look like you paid a professional to hook up your manicure.

I love a bold mani, but like I do with my Fall wardrobe, I return to the dark side when September sets in. It's time for to put those neons on the shelf and welcome Fall with rich colors that make a luxe statement.

House Of Jeffers' must have nail polish colors for Fall 2013 include:
  • Royal blues and emerald greens, like Deborah Lippmann's Laughin' To The Bank which border on being black.
  • Classically chic feminine nail polish colors like Marc Jacobs Beauty Enamored Nail Polish in Ultraviolet purple, Gothic reds and wine-influenced mauves that are turned down a notch and embrace fall's dark palette.
  • Metallics and dessert nudes that stand out on their own.

A good foundation to any manicure calls for a great base color, and I hope you'll agree that these colors fit right in with Fall 2013 fashion trends. What Fall nail polish colors will you be wearing?

90s Throwback Style: Wild Polka Dots

polka dot dresses | house of jeffers blog | nj fashion blogs

Gotta love a dress that does all the work for you. Sure, polka dots have been around forever, and it's a classic pattern... But I'm so in love with this little number. I think I was channeling Blossom for this 90s inspired look... I mean, homegirl did have a mean hat collection.

I can't believe August is almost over! New York Fashion Week is approaching, and it's still up in the air as to how much I'll be able to attend. The good news is that I was invited to attend LuckyFABB in October!

Even though I have a blog, I have commitments to my adult self: i.e. work. I honestly don't know how some of you do it, and I'll admit... There's a tad bit of jealously in that statement. Would I love to be able to blog for a living? Absolutely! Do I realize that that might not ever happen? Yes. Does that mean I should give up on that? Not necessarily. Having a blog is absolutely a juggling act. As many of you know, your blog is your second job... the one that doesn't pay well, but you love it through and through. I sometimes wonder what's going to happen to my blog as I get older, hopefully have children and well, just continue being an adult. I like to think that my blog is leading me toward something special, something I was meant to do... and in many ways, it already has. The many friendships and opportunities I've had - those make it all worthwhile.

But until I hit it big, like they say, "Fake it till you make it." Looks like I'm a professional at that.

Marshalls Project Fab: Getting Abstract

#ootd house of jeffers personal style blogs

This weekend was probably one of my favorites of the summer. I didn't go anywhere different, and there wasn't anything particularly new that I did... But, it included seeing my family, friends and just doing absolutely nothing at times. And I'm okay with that.

Fall has starting to creep in at night here in New Jersey...  A reminder that while some things stay the same, change is inevitable... and welcomed.

This outfit is a typical Sunday afternoon look as far as my summer style - a skirt and a top. This abstract print, Cynthia Rowley top is another one of my Marshall's Project Fab finds. I love the rolled cuffs and gold zipper pocket. I could have paired it with a simple pair of black pants, but thought it deserved to be matched with a piece that was equally interesting, hence the skirt.

And I almost forgot about this retro Madewell sandals that were living in the trunk of my car. Better late than never!

Pretty in Punk: Incorporating Punk Trends For Fall

One trend I'm happy that's making a revival for Fall 2013 is punk. When the Meta Gala announced their 2013 theme was punk, I said, "Finally!"

Before fashion, music was my first love, and I've spent many years crushing over pyramid studs, while incorporating the punk vibe into my clothes...with a feminine twist.

Pretty in Punk

Anyone can pull off the punk look - yes, you! But if this is your first forte into punk, you can still be a lady, a badass one at that, by mixing feminine pieces with edgy accessories. The juxtaposition of hard and soft when it comes to style pairings is my all-time favorite.

To achieve a Fem Punk look or Everyday Punk look, try pairing classic pieces (dresses, jeans) in traditional tartan plaid, black and grey. Throw on some studs, and you're all set!

Leather and Stripes

My affliction for stripes as finally found it's way into my pants... Um, okay... that sounds a little raunchy...

I've been searching for a pair of striped pants for a couple of months, but every time I tried a pair on, either the fit wasn't right, the stripes were too thin, the cut of the pant made me feel like I had on clown pants. But, leave it to the Brits to make a proper pair of striped pants: Thank you, for letting me wear my favorite affliction!

This outfit is how I do a casual Sunday... jeans, a tee and some sick accessories. The laser cut details in my Sole Society Camille bag set off my theme of subtle details with slight contrast. All about leather and lady-like lace details - right down to my Shoemint Gina wedge shoes.

Abstract Geo Print

#nailart mani monday glitter mani by house of jeffers

I've been painting my nails in neons all summer... and with the change in the weather, I decided to start transitioning back into fall...but not completely.

This mani was uber easy to do, and was inspired by the top I'm wearing. I painted one coat of Essie's Good as Gold metallic polish, one half coat on the tips only of a Spoiled Nail Color from CVS in 2 Weeks Sober (a pastel purple) and some gold glitter, and that's it! I love how my top, inspired by Dasani Drops Strawberry Kiwi, is so playful and bright!

I have a feeling this weekend might be the last time I get to wear shorts. It's already starting to get cooler by 7:00 at night in New Jersey. I'm really bummed about Fall coming. Sure, it means I get to wear more black, but I've always felt my fall wardrobe isn't as strong as my summer style.

How are you gearing up for Fall?
