Guest Post: Lorna from Raindrops of Sapphire

Yellow is a great intense colour for Spring and Summer! Wearing yellow really livens up any outfit, whether you choose a bold shade of lemon yellow or you want something slightly more fresh and opt for a pastel tone, it always manages to look cool and Spring ready! I got this gorgeous lemon yellow coat from Zara and it definitely stands out! I find the best way to wear it is with other colours like red and blue. Colour blocking yellow just always looks fantastic and gives your outfit that extra pop! I find lemon yellow suits most skin tones, so you don't just have to be tanned to suit it! I'm as pale a can be and lemon yellow doesn't wash me out in the slightest.

If you prefer a less offensive shade, you can definitely opt for pastel yellow which looks amazing paired with white! That's a look that's incredibly light and airy which is perfect for the muted colours of Spring! I find you need to have a tan to your skin tone though when wearing pastel yellow as if you are paler, it can wash you out. If you aren't a fan of choosing yellow for a coat or jacket, you can also opt for yellow accessories! It's an amazing way to incorporate the pretty colour in your wardrobe without making too much of a statement! Why not try a pretty yellow scarf or bag? You really can't go wrong! Whatever you feel like wearing, make sure you add yellow to your wardrobe in the coming months!

In The Secret Garden

Yes, I realize these tights are a little loud... which is why it's taken me so long to finally wear them. But that's not to say that I don't like them.  Plus, you know I love a fashion challenge.

Orange and blue roses isn't a print you see everyday, either. I bought these floral print leggings from Threadsense without a specific shirt to wear with them in mind, but coincidentally, this blue peplum top (the same one I wore to Lucky FABB in September) manages to tone them down a bit.

I like to think that if I was a character in the book "Secret Garden" 2013 edition, I'd fit right in.

Besides, spring is the season for color!

I'm really looking forward to getting through this week uber fast - I'm headed to King of Prussia at the end of the week with my husband for a soccer tournament  Not quite a vacation, but it's time a way from my usual surroundings... Gotta love a road trip!

LMD - Little Mint Dress

Somewhere in the midst of preparing for spring and summer, I ended up with a lot of mint green. And I mean a lot. Upon further inspection of my closet, turns out mint green is a close second to black in terms of colors of choice. As of this week, I've banned myself from buying any more black clothing.

And normally when I wear a dress with a definitive waistline, I belt it. But I wanted to go in a different direction with my LMD - Little Mint Dress. On my quest to stay away from buying another black belt, I figured I'd go for a versatile choice - a neon pink belt. 

My advice for pairing two bold brights:

Believe it or not, wearing two brights at once does work as long as you keep one part of your outfit a little more subdued. If the outfit is bright, keep the shoes neutral or go with a basic color.

Obviously, I'm breaking many fashion rules with this outfit, including mixing metals with silver jewelry and gold-accented ballet flats. Honestly, rules schmules. I wear what makes me feel good, and if that means being a fashion outcast... Oh well.

Mani Monday: Erdem Inspired Abstract Flowers

Partaking in my usual Sunday night ritual of painting a new mani for the week, I stared at my polishes and was uninspired. I'm always looking for new ideas for my diy manis, and usually, they come to me quickly. But, sick of my standard lines and dashes, I turned to one of my favorite nail blogs, Miss Ladyfingers, for inspiration.

If you don't know about her, then you are seriously sleeping on some sick nail art. She features DIY nail art inspired by fashion on the runway. 

After looking at her site, I decided to find some inspiration of my own.

Eureka! Erdem's Spring RTW 2013 runway show, featuring uber bright florals with nods to the 70s. Described by Style.com as "nuclear orange" I immediately wanted to replicate the flowers on this dress.

The results:

To create the flowers, I simply dabbed a dot 3-4 times in clusters using Zoya's Heidi (orange) and Orly's Glowstick (a fluorescent yellow). The hints of light and dark purple on the petals were done using ultra thin Color Club polishes. And the base purple is Iris I Was from Sephora by OPI.
