Guest Post: It's Because I Think Too Much's Travel Essentials

Part of the fun in blogging is meeting people from across the U.S. - and Adiel from Its Because I Think Too Much is one cool gal! Her Cali style speaks to me and her readers in the most stylish of ways - and the NYTimes agrees: She's been featured in their Fashion & Style section numerous times! Be sure to visit her blog to scope out her scene!

Growing up, my family lived in the same house for 14 years. I didn’t really have a whole lot of experience with moving until after I graduated from high school. After that, I became very well acquainted with it--I moved about once a year up until I finally settled in the San Francisco Bay Area nearly three years ago. I’m by no means a moving pro, but when Jen asked me to share some of my travel must-haves, I was delighted at the opportunity! Keep reading to see what I need when I travel.

Lots of Layers
Whether it’s a road trip or in an airplane, travel always comes with unexpected climates. When traveling, I usually start with leggings or comfy skinny jeans and long t-shirt. Then I start to layer; a cozy cardigan, a scarf, and, depending on the weather, a coat or jacket. You’ll want to be sure your shoes are easy to slip on and off. In warmer weather I rock a pair of ballet slippers or loafers. If it’s colder, I wear a pair of boots that can be easily pulled on/off.
The key here is comfort!

Occupy the Mind
I’m a bit of a gadget girl and a little bit of traveling isn’t going to stop me from getting my fix. I’ve always got my phone, iPad, and digital camera on hand. Twitter, text messages, and Instagram are always entertaining while on the road. I can catch up on my reading or watch a movie on my iPad. I whip out my camera when I need to document a moment of the trip. And don’t forget your headphones so your tunes don’t disturb your fellow travelers!

Stay Hydrated
Traveling usually leaves me feeling completely dried out so it’s important to stay on top of moisture. I would be so lost without my favorite lip balm and a great hand lotion. And you can’t forget about the mother of all hydration--good ol’ water!

Now that you know some of my must-haves, it’s time to share yours! What do you have to have on hand while traveling?
