These Shoes Were Meant For... Talking

I love a good statement tee. But a quirky pair of statement shoes? Absolutely!

These ab fab Loly in the Sky Estelle Sneakers do all the talking for me. Since I do have a sweet tooth, the phrase, "OMG Cake" definitely applies. It's pretty much my birthday any time I wear them, and I love that they're just a cute reminder of how much fun being a girl can be.

Plus, what's great with shoes like this is that I can still dress them up with skirts, and get that girly vibe. Honestly, I don't live in heels every day. But at the same time, I don't want to lose that feminine appeal I look for when putting an outfit together.

Estelle is now my new best friend when it comes to comfort, style and getting a little cheeky!

Seeing The Light

Hi everyone! Hope you all had a wonderful Easter! 

Now that I'm back into blogging, and slowly getting back to normal after surgery, I'm ready to enjoy the warmer weather. This weekend, I was in Tarrytown, NY celebrating the marriage of two of my dear friends. The wedding was beautiful, as was the town. The day after the wedding, Mike and I played tourist and headed to a nearby lighthouse. The chance for a photo op was too good to pass up!

Tarrytown is right over the Tappan Zee Bridge, and is right next to the town of Sleepy Hollow. There's a lot of history in the town (beautiful castles, The Rockerfeller Estate) and, not to mention the best jewelry consignment shop I've ever been to. I'd absolutely recommend visiting both for its quint feel and rustic charm.

Since the weather was bright and sunny, I put on one of my favorite outfits that I've not worn on the blog yet. Yes, it's rather simple, but I feel like myself in it - a little, happy hipster in florals, black (of course, and a slub knit sweater that is actually cut out in back but layered with a tank. I love how it's got this layered vibe to it... I wish I had more tops like this one. And the skirt - I purchased it in another print just because the cut fit me perfectly, and can transition from fall to summer. I will definately be wearing this skirt again on House Of Jeffers. Recycling outfits is 100% okay with me. Don't you agree?

On another note, it feels really great to be sitting at my desk again, back to blogging. These photos are the first I've taken since my surgery, and they feel special to me. It's marking a new chapter of seeing the light at the end of something dark...

House Of Jeffers Year in Style: Top 12 Outfits of 2013

As 2013 comes to a close, I look back on it and finally feel like in the end, things come together. Sure, there are many bumps in the road, but I can't completely say good riddance to 2013... considering all of the good things that have come my way. The opportunities I've had with House Of Jeffers to expand myself and step outside my comfort zone have been so rewarding. So 2013, I liked you... not all the time, but you redeemed yourself in the end.

As for my style, I think this year I achieved all the things I wanted to do. Take more risks, try new things, track down the J.Crew Heart Sweater, buy a couple of Kate Spade New York bags, wear a lot of gold-studded anything, and of course, keep my bangs blunt.
