Afternoon Delight

After a jam-packed, fun-filled weekend in Atlantic City, spending the Fourth of July gambling (and mostly losing my money at the slot machines), indulging in too much food and some must needed R&R, I'm actually not hating the fact that it's the beginning of a new work week. My staycation was just what I needed. And a lazy Sunday was absolutely in order to recuperate from the casinos and Pina Coladas on the beach.

On Sundays, I like to keep my wardrobe comfortable but really girly. One of my favorite #SundayFunday outfit combos is a snug-fit tee paired with a skirt. Since I am a fan of funny statement tees, I was hoping that this Afternoon Delight Tshirt from Urban Outfitters was still in-store when I spotted it online. One trip to Westfield and $9.99 later - I was one happy fashion blogger. 

And, I'm about to get a little narcissistic, but I'm really, really happy with the way my ombre came out. I typically don't cut my hair often - usually every 5 months, but I noticed that the weather has been drying out my hair, and I knew I needed a trim... But was afraid to lose my ombre. So, my stylist threw in more blonde on the same day I had my cut done, and now I'm all refreshed. It's all about that subtle contrast, ya'll.

What a difference a haircut makes.

Vintage Reminders

The words "Jen" and "vintage" being in the same sentence are a complete oxymoron. I don't think anyone would classify my style as vintage. Heck, the most vintage things I own are jewelry. But for me, what makes me feel like I'm wearing something vintage is this ditsy floral print skirt... and the shoes, which have a 1950s vibe to em.

They remind me of Mary Janes, but more contemporary. And they are uber light. 

Although nothing in this outfit is thrifted, I really feel like its something you might find at a thrift store. The ditsy floral print skirt. The open knit tennis sweater. Is vintage trying to tell me something?

I think my bangs are a bit too hipster to go full-blown vintage. Maybe more of a 70s vintage, do the hustle kind of lady. Yeah, that sounds out of sight.

Marshalls Project Fab: A Definite Shoe In

On Monday, you heard the good news about my participation in Marshalls' Project Fab. I am thrilled to be among the many bloggers who applied and were chosen! Today, I bring you just a small taste of some of the #fabfound goodies I purchased courtesy of a $100 gift card given to me! 

Accepting the challenge, I headed to my local Marshalls in Clark, New Jersey on the hunt for designer duds. I'm pretty sure I heard angels sing when I entered the store... 

The first stop - the shoe department. Since summer is winding down, I was on the hunt for a pair of shoes that I can still wear now, and into the fall weather. #FabFound 1: These soft green Franco Sarto Henna heels, which were $22! I loved the color, and even better - the rubber sole. This is only the second pair of proper heels that I own, and as someone who normally doesn't wear pointed heels, the price point was perfect for someone just easing into new shoe territory.

And does the outlook look familiar? I wore it during my trip to Marshalls, and had planned on taking outfit photos on Sunday... but hadn't planned on finding a pair of shoes that matched this outfit. So, a change of shoes later - this is the complete look!
