Brand Spotlight: ARK Clothing

Across The Pond: Ark Clothing

One trend that I think the Brits put on the map is playsuits. I, for one, didn't wear them until I visited England in person, and my perspective on this one-piece wonder absolutely changed.

One UK brand giving jumpsuits and playsuits their day is ARK Clothing. From trippy hippie flower prints, to solid playsuits that make the seasonal transition effortlessly, their selection of jumpsuits and playsuits appeals to a variety of style aesthetics.

But don't limit these to just summer. A short playsuit can still make an appearance in the Fall.
Try these tips for styling playsuits and jumpsuits well into October:

 - A short jumpsuit looks just as formal as a dress for a night out. Pair it with a kimono cardigan and simple stilettos for a night-out look.

- Throw a blazer over it, accessorize with jewelry and it's the perfect dressed-up Fall look.

- When it gets a little colder outside, put on a pair of opaque leggings underneath to keep warm. The contrast of the leggings against the shorts looks a little boho, but cute!

- When it's cold outside, wear a knit sweater over a sleeveless pants jumpsuit. The pants will look like joggers!

Spring Awakening: Trends To Wear in 2014

Spring Awaking

Seriously, you guys, I am utterly, completely, totally over winter. I just refuse to acknowledge its blistering existence. In my mind, I'm already walking around bare legs exposed, pastels ablaze.

With my mind racing with all the things I'd love to wear this Spring, I'm looking to the future weather of warmer days. And while everyone has their own predictions as to what's going to be "it" this year, I have my own style inclinations. Check out my thoughts on what trends, and styles, you should try on for size this Spring...

The color: While I think orange is going to be the new black this year (bad pun intended), pastels will make the rounds again. Neon will still be here, but are going to take a vacation. Don't believe me? Check out Pantone's Fashion Color Report for Spring 2014.

The shoes: At the top of my must-have is Sole Society's cut-out Liesey oxford. It reeks of British flair while also speaking to my inner hipster. However, the resurgence of the printed heel is one trend I can't wait to wear, and is perfect for women of all ages!

The bag: The satchel is getting a makeover, and the brick red Kate Spade Saturday Assembly Satchel is everything. I love the play on a traditional satchel styling, but crafted in waxed cotton and accented with complementary leather handles. All over this bag. Plus, I'm loving the Danielle Nicole cobalt bag from Piperlime.

The prints: Stripes and florals - Do I even need to boast how much I love these prints? Florals aren't anything particularly new, but I sense there's going to be a lot more 70s inspired prints. From tops to pants, you won't go wrong wearing either print.

The accessories: The bolder, the better. The statement necklace will never ever not be a factor. As for sunglasses, the mod-style of plain and simple rounds will become Spring's accessory to have. Think John Lennon's iconic shades in a thicker frame.

This weekend, I kicked it super old school for these photos.

My husband couldn't help me take photos, so I had to dust off my tripod and go back to the days when I used to take my pictures myself. Not my preference, but it did make me appreciate the fact that I have someone who I can depend on to take photos for me.

Originally, I used to take all of my pictures myself on my lunch breaks at my old job. I scouted out a bunch of parks and playgrounds where I felt the embarrassment factor wouldn't be too high, and would take my outfit shots during the day.  And back then, I didn't have a tripod. I'd just balance my camera anywhere.

Oh the woes of being a fashion blogger.

And since I'm flying to England this Friday, things have been crazy. I've struggled to keep up with House Of Jeffers as I prepare for my trip. Between packing, after-work commitments, and work... I absolutely need some time away from the desk in every capacity.

But fear not! I've lined up some awesome fashion bloggers who are kind enough to keep House Of Jeffers going while I'm away!

The Dutchess & The Duke

What Jen's Wearing:
Peter Pan Lace Top - Charlotte Russe
Pink Jeans - Forever 21
Cut-Out Peep Toe Pumps - Nine West
Black Leather Satchel - Zara (similar style here)
Faceted Triangle Bracelet - Forever 21 (buy it here)
Rhinestone Cord Bracelet - Charming Charlie
Pink Rhinestone Lanyard Bracelet - Henri Bendel

I'm convinced the British influence American fashion and retail more than anyone... Or at least me.

I'm not the first to make this observation, but I will say that I feel like it takes the U.S. months for us to catch up to trends that already happened in the UK.... like, two years ago.

Plus, being married to a Brit has it's advantages. During my last trip to England in 2010, I came across many shirts flirting with adorable Peter Pan collars. To me, Peter Pan collars wreak of baby doll cuteness. They're the ultimate in gawking at your age with something that is fashionably adorable, no matter how young or old you are.

And you can thank Alexa Chung for inspiring this outfit. You should be jealous of Alexa Chung, actually. She can do no wrong... Google homegirl up. Peter Pan and her need to go into business together.

I swear England is so ahead of the fashion game... The rest of us, or those in New Jersey searching for fashion glimmers among a plethoras of malls, have to admire from afar, and dream of the day they get to visit Miss Selfridge, Oasis and River Island, again.
