Color Me Unique - My Julep Dream Nail Polish Color

Have nail polish. Will paint.

That pretty describes my obsession with nail art and colors. The colors, the glitters, the decals... I can get lost in my nail polish collection for hours. And often spend 2 nights of the week changing my manicure.

So, when Julep, (yes, that Julep) asked me what my custom color would be, I became giddy with excitement! Having my own nail polish color has been an absolute dream of mine, and for years I've been lusting over the perfect purple that represents me.

One of the things that I love about Julep is how they name their nail polish colors after women who inspire them (check out Julep's latest assortment of colors here).  Plus, the fact that you sign up to get new nail polish sent to you every month is genius.

Since the color would be true to my style, and to me, I'd call it Color Me Unique.

The name: Color Me Unique

The color: A wild purple with a hint of fuchsia. The best of both worlds if you ask me.

The inspiration: Mother Nature and a stunning fringe leather bag from Gucci. Both are a play on pink and purple, but on the darker, edgier side.

Plus, how could I not call upon my penchant for British royal jewels and lush lace that's fit for a queen as part of my inspiration? Talk about queen jewels....

The quote: Carolina Herrera's quote absolutely defines how I view personal style. Everyone can be a part of fashion, but if you can't put it together in a way that represents you, then it's just a bunch of clothes.

I know I don't fit in with fashion blogger norms - and fought for years with myself about weather I should change who I am and what I do on House Of Jeffers to give myself better opportunities like other bloggers.

In the end, I said screw it. I actually like being different from the crowd. It's the way I put my style together that makes me, me. And this quote reminds me to stay true to what I feel.

Mani Monday: Freshly Intense

Day 23: 30-Day No Shopping Challenge
Since I didn't win the Mega Millions, it's back to blogging.
Oh, and...  I shopped this weekend. For Mike and Harley, that is.

I know how giddy I get when someone brings home a little somethin' somethin' for me, so why not share the love with the two fellas in my life who make me happy.

Mani Monday
Normally, I paint my ring finger a different color, but for this manicure, I figured I'd experiment a bit. Plus, I was itching to use Zoya's Heidi, a bold orangey coral!

Since I was short on time, I applied solid coats of Heidi and Julep's Helena, which I received in my February Maven box. I'm diggin' the purple and orange together.

As for the glitter, it's Color Club's Backstage Pass - the chunkiest, biggest glitter nail polish I've found yet - stuffed with flecks of silver and purple with a clear topcoat. I wanted the color to stand out, so I applied glitter just along the sides.

Personally, this is my favorite mani yet. Neons and glitter - don't hate. Appreciate.

Glass Candy - Julep Maven Review

Ya'll know how much I love nail polish. And with the lack of speciality nail joints in New Jersey, I do all of my own nail art.

Plus, I'm always on the lookout for anything nail polish related that has me written all over it.

Enter Julep Maven. Similar to what Birchbox does for beauty and cosmetics, this is all about mani/pedi goodness. Normally, I'm hesitant to commit to beauty offers that require me to sell my soul, or may or may not deliver me goodies I'll actually use, but since I'm addicted to nail polish, for $19.99 a month, I figured I'd give it a chance.

My first box, called the It Girl, arrived right around Christmas.

My It Girl box arrived with two lotion samples, silver glitter, colors (from L to R), Helena, Alfre, Chloe & Fast Dry Topcoat.

While I've been using the topcoat like mad, I finally painted some nail art with Chloe last night, a black polish infused with flecks of red glitter, as a base. The polish itself glides on smooth, and you don't need a lot to get a good coat. I then used a metallic red for the lightning bolts/triangles.

Finally, something for all those nail polish junkies out there. Each month, I'll receive a new box filled with all new colors and products! Plus, I can preview my Julep Maven box before it's sent to me... and if I don't like what I see online, BAM! I have the option to change it or skip the month.

Can't really go wrong for $19.99 a month when you're receiving about $40 or more worth of product. Winning.

So:
1. If you like getting goodies in the mail...
2. Like painting your nails, shopping for nail polish or nail art and like pre-picked goodies...
3. Enjoy reviewing new products and colors before anyone else, then Julep Maven is an awesome idea that I totally recommend.
