Chelsea Hall Girl

When I was a child, I used to pretend I had to wear glasses. Poking the tinted lenses out of sunglasses, I'd put them on and imagine I had an alter ego. Hey, if Clark Kent could do it, so could I.

As an adult, I still love the idea of wearing glasses, even though I'm fortunate to have good vision. Glasses are just as much an accessory as jewelry, and for me, they let me have fun with my look.

Lucky for me, Rivet & Sway asked if I would show off my Chelsea Hall style inspired by their new Chelsea Hall Collection. Giving a nod to the 70s vibe of androgynous style and the fearless women who defined this decade, a #ChelseaHallGirl is all about being daring, edgy and breaking the rules when it comes to style.

Thanks to Rivet & Sway's try at home program, they whisked 5 frames, a combination of optical and sunglass styles, to me to test drive for 5 days. The frames come equipped with clear lenses - perfect for accessorizing and experimenting - but you can purchase prescription and non-prescription frames. 

I immediately loved this purple frame called Pantsuit. Its interior is lined with a lighter purple. Sold!

 I could see myself rocking these on a daily basis because the frame fits in well paired next to my bangs, and the I love how they have a stylishly-smart feel. Plus, I needed a sunnie, and the oversized round-frame Superfly in True Blood was perfect for a bright and sunny Sunday.

Hot Hot Heat

New Jersey has been getting slammed with hot weather this summer. While it's my favorite time of year, when the temperatures are in the high 80s and 90s, it's unbearable. Usually I stay in or stick to indoor outings, but if I can find a super shady area in the park, I'll sit outside and read.

One of my favorite wardrobe pieces for summer are t-shirts. This tee from Urban Outfitters featuring a banged lady with the phrase "Koni-Chiwa" happens to be my favorite. It's a little faded, but the fit is perfect and the cotton is light enough that I don't get too hot.

My read for the day was Kelly Cutrone's "If You Have To Cry Go Outside," complete with one of the edges eaten away a la my dog, Harley. Reading this book seems appropriate being that I'm now looking for a new job, and Cutrone's sarcastic nuggets of wisdom, sprinkled with unapologetic "tell-it-like-it-is" attitude, is motivating me to chase a career that I truly want instead of just settling.

My accessories might be a little frenetic for the day, but I just bought these earrings the day before, which I'm in love with! And the shoes -  Jeffrey Campbell oldies but goodies. While I might have been a little over accessorized, sometimes it's nice to just doll yourself up!

Spring stemwear

I can't lie... I have a problem. It's something I'm not proud of, but I'm not hurting anyone....

I can't stop buying shoes.

As winter starts to calm down, I turn to my closet and collection of shoes. If I had to guestimate, I probably have somewhere around 60 pairs. Average for a lady, right? Um, no.

Ok, so maybe that's a little obsessive, but I do get my money's worth out of all the shoes I buy. Spring and summer offers more versatile choices, and, the chance for me to wear color on my feet. Usually, I stick to boots and black for winter, but I revel in the opportunity to wear my favorite green heels from Urban Outfitters and other vibrant shades once the weather warms up.

Currenlty, these shoes are on my wishlist... and my birthday is November 6, by the way. Thanks for asking.

Oh, which one from this photo you ask? Um... all of em. Especially Foxy Wood (in the middle) - the official fashion blogger shoe. Haven't seen anyone wear these in pink... yet. Jeffrey Campbell is the god of making a. fashionable, eclectic shoes that are b. comfortable. I own a pair of heeled oxfords by him that are hands down, one of the most well made, comfortable shoes I own.

Irregular Choice has an amazing selection of funky footwear that you don't find very often. While I was in England, I came across this brand, and I'm glad that I can torture my husband stateside by heading to the Irregular Choice store in NYC!  The Bonny Bonnet (at left) can go with jeans, tights and pretty much anything, while the sparklers on the right I'd have to do some outfit planning.

These bad boys are Christian Louboutin. One can dream... and that's all I'll be doing with these shoes as I'm going to have to find a less expensive alternative. The color yells "Wear me in spring!" For not planning my outfit around these shoes, they actually didn't look too bad what with I had on - minus the deer in headlines expression on my face in the photo.

I came, I saw, I blogged

I died and went to blogger heaven... and everyone was taking pictures of themselves.

As you've probably noticed, everything this week has been leading up to the the IFB Evolving Influence Conference that took place yesterday at Milk Studios in NYC. It all kicked off when the wind ruined my bangs on Wednesday night, but meeting contest winners and bloggers Krista from ProFreshStyle and Nubia from Nubia's Nonsense made up for it. I also met Jennine, founder of IFB and The Coveted, who is without a doubt one of the most bubbly, friendly and just all around down-to-earth ladies in the blogging business.

As part of winning the contest, I won a camera and the chance to participate in a produced video, which meant I interviewed fellow bloggers in uncomfortable shoes throughout the day on their thoughts on the future of fashion blogging. Plus, fellow contest winner, and my new favorite person from Michigan, Doni from LivLuxMag was my partner in crime.

Heavy stuff, right?

Among the many stylish bloggers I chatted with, and the panels, here'a a couple of highlights:
1. Boston loves blogging!

During the panels, I scoured the room for potential interviewees for my assignment. I happened to bump into Amy of StylishYear.com (at far right), who donned an adorable skirt from H&M... I knew I'd get a long with her immediately after sharing that my ensemble was also from the same store. She introduced me to Mara Does Makeup (ww.beso.com) and Nina of TheStyleGlossary.com (pictured at left).

2. Bloggers ain't playin' with their footwear. The Jeffrey Campbells were out in full effect... and I'm not complaining. The wedge was also a favorite.

3. The panels were amazing! There is an abunance of info that I didn't know was so accessable... and obtainable! Plus, I was somewhat surprised that the blogging community are a bunch of cool, down-to-earth women (assumingly) who are uber friendly and (obviously) blatently fashionable or epic fail clothing donners.

4. London has beautiful grassy landscapes... North Jersey has farms with dirty sheep.
