Chelsea Hall Girl

Rivet & Sway Chelsea Hall Collection | House Of Jeffers | www.houseofjeffers.com

When I was a child, I used to pretend I had to wear glasses. Poking the tinted lenses out of sunglasses, I'd put them on and imagine I had an alter ego. Hey, if Clark Kent could do it, so could I.

As an adult, I still love the idea of wearing glasses, even though I'm fortunate to have good vision. Glasses are just as much an accessory as jewelry, and for me, they let me have fun with my look.

Lucky for me, Rivet & Sway asked if I would show off my Chelsea Hall style inspired by their new Chelsea Hall Collection. Giving a nod to the 70s vibe of androgynous style and the fearless women who defined this decade, a #ChelseaHallGirl is all about being daring, edgy and breaking the rules when it comes to style.

Thanks to Rivet & Sway's try at home program, they whisked 5 frames, a combination of optical and sunglass styles, to me to test drive for 5 days. The frames come equipped with clear lenses - perfect for accessorizing and experimenting - but you can purchase prescription and non-prescription frames.

I immediately loved this purple frame called Pantsuit. Its interior is lined with a lighter purple. Sold!

I could see myself rocking these on a daily basis because the frame fits in well paired next to my bangs, and the I love how they have a stylishly-smart feel. Plus, I needed a sunnie, and the oversized round-frame Superfly in True Blood was perfect for a bright and sunny Sunday.

Match Made in Heaven

house of jeffers

Did I match what I wore so Harley and I could be twinsies? No... because I could never outdo Harley in the cool department. Even if I am wearing Jeffery Campbell shoes and a new brown leather skirt.

The saying that dogs and their owners sometimes have similar personalities, I think, is true. While the resemblance between myself and Harley isn't quite there, I think he's my doggie match personality-wise.

He's a little nuts - I consider myself to be a reserved nut job with quirky tendencies. Our barks are most certainly bigger than our bites... but it's safe to not underestimate either in both cases. We love British anything. And, let's face it - we shiver when it's cold outside.

Match made in heaven.

For the weekend, I'm headed to Baltimore for a soccer tournament. Never been to Maryland, but I'm looking forward to visiting another state, and maybe doing some touristy things too. I hear there's a lot of art museums, and the Hippodrome is there, too, so perhaps I'll swing by.

Now... what to pack? Definitely need to bring some sparkle!

Back To Black

house of jeffers

Sometimes, you gotta pull a Johnny Cash and go all black. The Man in Black was the original purveyor
of this monotone look, and plain and simple - it just looks cool.

Polka Dot Top - Forever 21 / Faux Leather Skirt - Forever 21  / Black Tights - Target / Cambridge Satchel Fluoro Pink Satchel (won at IFBCon) / Gold Stud Shoes - Miss Selfridge / Gold Chain Link Bracelet - Charming Charlie / Henri Bendel Hand Me Down ring / New York Color Ultra Last Lipstick in Blue Rose

This, to me, is absolutely a House Of Jeffers outfit. It's got black, studs and a scream of unexpected color a la my neon pink lipstick and the Cambridge Satchel Company fluorescent pink satchel I won at the IFB Conference. I've always wanted a Cambridge Satchel (remember when I did a Q&A with The Cambridge Satchel Company?), and now, I can carry a little bit of the UK with me.

Both the polka dot button front top and the faux leather skirt have been sitting in my closet for two months. Originally, I bought the leather skirt to wear to the IFB Conference... Either way, I love how the top has gold studs on the collar - to match my studded oxfords I purchased from Miss Selfridge during my last trip to England.

I've been really missing the warm weather. I love wearing skirts, but when it's 20 degrees out, the last thing I can think about is putting on a dress. But since I'm trying to cut back on my shopping, I guess I won't be bringing any new dresses home. I'm attempting to save up for a pretty large Happiness Investment that I've been fixated on for some time now, which means smaller purchases are gunna have to stop.

So thanks, Johnny Cash, for naming your 1971 album after your tendency to wear black. I'm right there with you.
