I'm Just A Girl

I wasn't always this girly. In my teen years, the idea of wearing pink used to make me dry heave, and skirts were reserved for family functions. Eventually, I went into estrogen overdrive and realized that a little eye-liner never hurt nobody.

Being uber girl is so much fun. Nail polish. Flat irons. Purse shopping. Wearing a pea coat with leggings and grey wedge shoes to a park. I'm sorry, but boys, you're missing out on some fun s#$@.

Lately, I've been excited at the thought of starting my own business. I'm a huge believer in "be your own boss", and while my idea might not make me Man Repeller money, it'll let me take my knack for nail art in a new direction. Speaking of which, the bows on my mani are not stickers (totally bragging, btw). Yours truly whipped those up herself.

Cobalt Casual

Casual to you and casual to me can mean two completely different things. For me, this is casual, believe it or not.

Outfit:
Leopard Print Top - Old Navy
April Skinny Jeans - Blue - c/o Urban1972.com
Luscious 32 Glitter Bow Pumps - Lulus.com
Kristen Round Satchel - Coach

Jeans really don't get as much recognition as they should. Hence, when the rainbow jean trend came along, I swear I heard angels singing.... These are from Urban 1972, my lovely sponsor. If you haven't checked out their site, then please do so.

While I know us bloggers love our dresses, I'm gunna be 100% honest with you - those things called legs... they get cold. Yes, I know those shots of you wearing that billowy dress on a bridge in the middle of a poppy field look good (and I'm willing to suffer for fashion, occasionally) but let's not pull all our cards out too soon, ladies.

Accessories:
Square Topaz Ring - Local NJ artist
Thin Gold Bangle - C Wonder
Black Rhinestone Bracelet - Charming Charlie
Crystal Blue Bracelet - Vintage find from Philadelphia - I was told it's from the 60s.
Manicure - DIY!

I wore this outfit out to dinner with my hubby to an Irish pub, where the patrons played a game of "Which one of these doesn't belong" when I walked in. A bit loud - um, yeah. But, at least I can say I was the only one wearing glittery heels and bright blue denim.

Guns N Roses

Want to talk about getting excited? Four words: Peter Pan collar necklace. Oh my word, I nearly lost my eggs over this necklace. I've been on the hunt for the perfect one for some time now, and hadn't had good luck online, but this beauty from Smak Parlour is it.

Outfit:
Guns N Roses Tee - H&M
Total Bloom Pleated Skirt - c/o Urban1972.com
Peter Pan Collar Necklace - Smak Parlour
Caged Gladiator Wedges - Mandee
Solid Brass Bangle - J.Crew
Rhinestone Bangle - C. Wonder
Buckle Up Band Ring - Henri Bendel

I think as bloggers, we're always focused on being so polished, and well-kept. You don't have to be decked out to look stylish. Shoot, a t-shirt can look dressier with a blazer than a blouse on it's own at times. Hopefully, there's some other bloggers who feel the same way because let's face it: I can't be on 24/7.  I don't live in heels, nor do I dress it up every day. But as long as I stay true to the kind of style I like, and ya'll keep reading, then I'll keep at it.

I have to say, though, this outfit really is me. A little bit of rock 'n roll and a splash of color. It mixes the feminine and roughness of fashion that I always try to pull together. In this case, the vintage feel of the Guns N Roses tee and uber girlyness of the floral print skirt works together... at least I dig it.

What can I say, I have a soft spot for 80s hair metal bands and the tees that promote them. This one will go well with my Poison and Queen tees.

Cat Scratch Fever

Two things about cat scratch fever references...

First, Ted Nugent in a loin cloth. Google that up.

Second, since I've moved, the amount of feral cats in my neighborhood is crazy. Every morning when I walk out my door on the way to work, there's a black cat starring me down. I think it's because I'm more of a dog person that I get a little wigged out by it. At least I can pay homage to thuggish felines in this cat print top. And since I'm required to wear dressier clothes to work, I figured I could get a way a button up blouse with cats on it.

Outfit:
Cat Print Pleated Blouse - c/o  Urban1972.com
Black Skinny Pants - ?
BCBGeneration Secret B Leopard Shoes - Macys
Bracelets
Spiked Bracelet - Forever 21
Polished Brass Bangle - J Crew
Chain Link Bangle - Forever 21

I love that the pattern is slightly abstract... and that'd you'd have to get all up on it to really tell it's kitties.

So, creepy black cat... this outfit's for you. Please stay away from my breath and my car's under carriage.

Dancing Machine

Greetings! I hope ya'll had an awesome holiday, ate till you felt sick and found lots of pressies waiting for you on Christmas morning! Santa was very good to me this year!

Although you run the risk of looking like an obligatory Santa stand-in when wearing red for the holidays, I did it anyway. I've been staring at my Josephine Ruffle Dress that I bought from Urban 1972 for a month now hanging behind my door... knowing that Christmas would be the best time to break it out.

Outfit:
Josephine Ruffle Dress - Urban1972.com
Black tights - Target
Rhinestone Fringe Necklace - ideeli
Houndstooth Pea Coat - Express

And you know how I hate winter coats? Well, I still do, but at least my houndstooth jacket made me feel a little more dressed up than wearing a parka. Someone asked me why women don't wear jackets in the winter that are practical. My only answer is that they probably like what they're wearing underneath the coat. And yes, I am that dummy person who sacrifices comfort for fashion. HEY, at least I'm not wearing pajamas to the mall....

And if I look cold, that's because I made my husband take these photos... fast. Don't let the dancing fool you - that was just a tactic to keep warm.
